Doorways from Around the World

About this doorway:
Doorways into centuries-old buildings lead to family abodes in Corniglia, Italy, a UNESCO Heritage site in the Cinque Terre. Photo courtesy of Carolyn Jost, Riding Beyond board member and volunteer.

Ann-Marie Ramsey’s door to the future:

Oh splendid beast,
Oh mystic giant,
Means freedom to my heart,
A calming to my soul.

Gratitude flows in rhythm to the beat of your steps,
My heart against your body,
Holding me up, holding me up.

Dark eyes of mirroring glass draw me in,
down, down, down into the truthful deep,
Cannot escape what I feel,
Be with it,
Just be.

Savor this moment in time with me,
Oh precious friend,
Make me laugh with your whinnying bout,
exposing every brilliant tooth,
leaving no barriers but joy to boot.

We are old friends you and me,
woven into my tapestry,
Connection through time.
Recognizing each other,
and so it shall be.

About this doorway:
One of the many alleys and passageways of Montepulciano, Italy, enticing you into the beauty and possibilities of our world, just around the corner, savoring our kinship with the natural world.

Horse Haiku

by a Riding Beyond Participant
About this doorway:

This whimsical gate, surely sourced in joyful living, offers a glimpse into the passion and creativity of glassmaking on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy.

Horse

Buckskin Abby in the rain
Mystic in the sun
Muscles smooth
Ears saying more than I could
With only MY body.
Eyes wide and aware
Empathy and compassion?
It surely felt like it.
Moments of touch
Physical and emotional.
Peace, quiet,
Deep breath contentment.
Who knew a horse would
Make such a difference.
