June Session Inspirations
Here are a few words I received yesterday from two of our participants lauding their experience.
Patty had over two hours pain free as a result of her time on Wednesday:
“Recovery from breast cancer often doesn’t end when the surgery, chemo and radiation is done. There is an unseen pain that can remain in the form of post mastectomy chronic pain, which I have endured for six years since my bi-lateral mastectomy. I continue to seek ways to have blocks of peace, time away from the constant, persistent pain in my chest and upper arm. I have been blessed to have been given a few of these pain-free blocks of time with Mystic, the beautiful horse with the special gift. She gets it! Today she put her soft nose and chin on my very painful upper arm and just held it there, breathing on me, and then turned her head and neck into my back and hugged me as if to say, “I feel your pain.” I will carry this special time with Mystic into my daily life, reaching back for the strength she gave me and bring it forth to help in the days when the pain is worse. The joyful and understanding connection created with Mystic compares to nothing I have ever experienced before. What a marvelous experience, to connect with this beautiful creature! Thank you, Mystic, for joining my team of professionals that I count on to find the help I need. Thank you for the moments of such sweet peace!”
Roan experienced a time of persistent joy that grew over the four weeks:
“Riding Beyond was an affirming and healing experience. For those who might not be as familiar with horses, this doesn’t involve riding and Mystic is a beautiful, gentle spirit. It’s been a while since I did any writing, and the last assignment was to write a poem; I felt my creative side strengthened and freed up in this program. The support is great. It’s wonderful to communicate with a magnificent animal and feel her strength strengthening my own. Recommend it highly.”
Roan’s creative writing:
Horses,
dreams of childhood
Healers today
Poetry needs a muse
My muse—
a beautiful mare,
a bay!
She shares her strength,
her heart,
her soul.
Horses and women
sharing a mystic bond
Woman and horse—
one force,
one heart,
each leaving a bit
each carrying away a bit
of the heart of the other.
Please spread the word about Riding Beyond for those who may join us for future sessions.
